Who I Am

Hi! I’m Urvi Talaty. I’m twenty one, an engineering student and live in the vibrant city of Mumbai. I am passionate about these things: Reading, writing and food. And dance. And environmental conservation.

I also love to travel and have been all over India, parts of the Far East and Europe, UAE, South Africa, and Bhutan. According to me, travel is one of the biggest inspirations to a writer as it exposes you to different cultures and experiences.

People tell me that when I’m reading, I’m so oblivious to my surroundings that if a thief came and stole all my possessions away, I wouldn’t notice!  Maybe it’s true, I really don’t know!

I write because I want to, and frankly, because I believe I can.  When I was younger, I took part in a short story competition, and I won.  And that wasn’t even the best part.  The judge was Mr. Ruskin Bond, one of my favourite authors.  This was a very big inspiration. Its my firm belief that some things look good only in the written form!  I would love to share my musings and my experiences with the world, and this blog is a platform for me to do just that.

So just stay tuned and I sure hope you will love what you read!

  11. Wow ! This is the most amazing introduction that I have read! You are 18 and been to 3 continents! Chris Columbus just hid his face with shame in heaven 😉 And I have special people for people who read. Readers and actors live a thousand lives. The opening of mind with all the fresh perspectives must have been crucial in making you a wonderful person 🙂
And Urvi, you have a new follower in its true sense ! You got an award from Ruskin Bond for writing is like . . . getting an award from Ruskin Bond for writing! There is no comparison to it! If I had been wearing a hat, it would have been off to you.
I am so glad your stopping by led me to this beautiful blog of the multi-talented supergirl, called Urvi. Pleased to meet you 🙂

Wow!! Thank you so very much for writing all that! It is truly humbling to read!

Well, about the ‘having travelled to three continents’ part, let’s just say I’m really thankful my parents like travelling as well;) Though unfortunately I haven’t discovered any secret land while journeying the world, I do have experiences and memories!

Reading is something that I just cannot stop doing! Someone would have to really shake me if they want me to come out of the trance I go into while immersed in a book! And that is so true about how actors and readers live a thousand lives! So many new experiences, so much joy!

That award that I won was truly my inspiration to start writing seriously, and I’m so glad you appreciate it!

And well, I can only thank you for your wonderful praise and for reading my work!

      • Admiring a wonderful writer has never been difficult. The pleasure was entirely mine 🙂
And I am sure you’ll be getting many more awards in the times to come. Till then, keep cherishing this amazing talent of yours. I understand it could be a little difficult managing it with your studies, but some things must stay as an integral part of your lives. Also, never worry about the frequency of your posts, your followers (read ‘fans’) will always be found waiting whenever you arrive 🙂

That is so very nice of you! Thank-you again!

Your encouragement means a lot, it increases my faith in myself! Yes, I do want to write here more often, but as you may very well know, engineering studies are hectic, what with finals looming in the distance! But since I love writing, I dont think I’m going to give it up!

          • I completely understand, Urvi. No doubt your career gets the front seat in the priority list. But I know for a vibrant person like you, being an all-rounder won’t be difficult. After all, you have been continuing to do so all your life. It is evident from your blog 😉
My best wishes to you 🙂
